UK University  Training Courses in Play Therapy

Training to be a qualified UK play therapist takes two to three years (part-time) at a British University. At the time of writing (February 2006) four universities offered courses:

• University of York, MA/Diploma in Non-directive Play Therapy Tel: 01904 321235 (mornings only)
• University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), Postgraduate Certificate in Play Therapy Tel: 0141 339 2366
• University of Surrey (Roehampton), Graduate Diploma/MA in Play Therapy Tel: 020 8392 3232 (or 3064)
• Liverpool Hope University, Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy Tel: 0151 291 3439 (or 3373).

Applicants are usually graduates or have an equivalent qualification such as Dip.SW. The courses typically combine academic work with supervised Play Thearpy sessions (which students are expected to arrange).
